Pargas

The headquarters and product development centre of Nordkalk Corporation are located in Pargas. In Pargas there is also a quarry, a grinding plant, a lime kiln and a harbour. There are several companies which operate in the same industrial area, using the local marble-like white limestone as raw material. A special feature of the quarry is a mineral called Pargasite, which was named after the location: it was found in Pargas in the 19th century.

• Operations started in 1898, when the joint-stock company Pargas Kalkbergs Aktiebolag was established. It changed its name later to Partek. Nordkalk was part of Partek until February 2003.
